Mission
The Scotland Seagrass Collaborative (SSC) unites seagrass practitioners across Scotland—researchers, practitioners, and community members—to exchange knowledge, share resources, and collaborate on advancing seagrass conservation. By fostering training, communication, and science-based action, SSC works to address threats to seagrass and champion its regional protection, serving as a model for how local initiatives can help solve global environmental challenges.

Vision
A connected and collaborative network of seagrass practitioners working together to achieve more effective conservation outcomes across Scotland.
Approach
SSC hosts quarterly discussion sessions to explore key topics in seagrass conservation in order to generate opportunities for knowledge exchange and relationship building. Topics are driven by members and organised into two working groups:
-
Getting Started
-
Diving Deeper
Getting Started:
Emphasis on community engagement, training, and citizen science contributions to a national seagrass database or exploring other areas of interest specified by our members.
Diving Deeper:
Focus on scientific methods and restoration strategies, both active and passive.
